Dental Hygiene & Prevention

Professional teeth cleaning on a regular basis helps to promote healthy teeth and gums. We will recommend a maintenance program designed especially for you with recall examinations scheduled at regular intervals. Typically, a basic cleaning and examination is scheduled every 6 months, however some patients may require more frequent visits depending on how well they care for their teeth and gums as well as the status of their overall oral health.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do I floss every day?
  • Do I brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste and follow my dentist's instructions on how to brush properly?
  • Do I eat a well-balanced diet, and limit sweets and sticky foods?
  • Do I smoke?
  • Do I have a history of cavities or gum disease?
  • Am I taking any medication that causes dryness of mouth?
  • Do I have existing dental work that needs check-ups and maintenance (braces, bridges, crowns)?
  • Do I have bad breath?
  • Is my overall health good?

Your answers will help us determine how often you need to visit for check-ups. It's worth noting that you should never determine your need for dental care on what your dental insurance plan covers.
