Protecting Your Oral Structures

Maintaining good oral health is more than just brushing and flossing. For those of us who play sports, who clench or grind our teeth or who snore, dental appliances can help preserve and protect our oral structures, and the health of our whole bodies.

Dental appliances offered at The Hunt Club Dental Centre – such as mouth guards and sleep apnea devices – are used to help protect the health of your oral cavity.

Mouth guards are commonly used by athletes to prevent injuries during contact sports. These devices can also be customized to fit people who suffer from bruxism, a condition characterized by the clenching or grinding of teeth during sleep.

Sleep apnea is a condition where breathing is interrupted during sleep, leading to daytime fatigue and an increased risk of heart disease and stroke. Dental appliances can help keep the airway open during sleep, reducing the severity symptoms.

At The Hunt Club Dental Centre, our dental professionals work closely with patients to determine the best type of dental appliance for their specific needs.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances

Sleep disorders can negatively impact your overall health and wellbeing.

For patients who snore, their relaxed throat tissues cause the airway to restrict. This creates the sound of snoring as oxygen is forced past. For patients with sleep apnea, their throat tissues over-relax and obstruct the airway. This forces the brain to wake them up to breathe, disrupting their natural sleep cycle.

At The Hunt Club Dental Centre, we provide custom-fitted oral appliances to move the lower jaw and tongue muscles to open the airway. This helps improve your flow of breath and prevents you from waking up throughout the night to breathe.

Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards

We offer mouth guards that fit over your teeth to protect them from damage.

Sports Guards

If you get hit in the mouth during sports, a mouth guard provides a barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue of your mouth.

Night Guards

If you grind your teeth during sleep, a mouth guard will help protect them from damage. If you clench your jaw, a mouth guard will also help prevent this and provide some pain relief.
